This renovation and addition to an attached townhouse was centered on the partial restoration and partial replacement of an old stair and railing. The single-family home was fully gutted and prepped for a future in-law, or rentable apartment, with a new entry to the garden level and a lowered basement slab. The existing spaces on the first, second, and third floors were opened up to allow for more light penetration and connection between floors, including a space for a future double-height climbing wall flanking the central stair.
