Action Inc. is a non-profit organization that has been a vital asset to the people of Cape Ann since 1965, delivering housing assistance and other social services. After leading extensive focus group meetings and analysis of Action Inc’s operations and future growth during a Master Plan and Feasibility Study, Studio NDP was selected to design the renovation of the ground floor office space at the organization’s Headquarters along Main St. in Gloucester. Analysis during the Master Plan found that this particular space had the capacity to both consolidate departments that were previously scattered and provide additional space needed for organization’s projected growth in staff over the next 1-5 years.

The renovation provides a mix of private offices, shared workspace, phone rooms, reception, and a dedicated staff kitchen and lounge. With a focus on accessibility and wellness, the design will provide universal access for the clients, use healthy materials, and focus on sustainable lighting. Security and comfort are also key aspects of the design; particular attention has been paid to acoustic privacy between offices, and visual privacy while maintaining access to daylight and views throughout the deep plan.
